Welcome to the Ida Barbour Early Learning Center

Ida Barbour Early Learning Center is a day and after-school program designed to prepare children for success in school and beyond. We work with children ages six weeks to seven years old, developing literacy, social skills, and fine and gross motor skills. For more than 97 years the center has been active in helping children grow and thrive in an ever changing and challenging world.

Our program helps provide children with the skills and abilities kindergarten and other teachers want to see when children begin attending school, and provides an early opportunity for stimulating growth that lasts a lifetime. We operate on a sliding payment scale, which provides an environment for children of families who otherwise could not afford early learning opportunities.

We work with children on an individual basis -- there are no cookie-cutter approaches here -- using assessments to identify he areas for greatest potential. Ida Barbour Early Learning Center is a non-profit affiliated with the United Way of South Hampton Roads and fully licensed by the Department of Social Services.
